Hey y'all...
In keeping with my promise to post regular updates... here's one for October.
While I wish I had news of impending production or release dates for the film... that's just not the case. This project has been one of the hardest of my life to get off the ground.
I have a new piece of artwork available at http://romeropictures.com and I'm continuing to take meetings, some of which are extremely promising, but I have no concrete start dates as of now, so I'd rather just tell you all to stay tuned and keep your patience.
This project is happening and it will happen the way I want it to happen to give you guys what you deserve, honor my father the way he deserves to be honored for what he accomplished and deliver one hell of a ride across the board.
That's it for now. More next month, or sooner if I can pull this deal across the finish line.

Based on the work I’ve been putting into this project, I am proud to announce that ORIGINS has reached 60% of the required production budget to shoot this film my way… the Romero way. This film will be made by the second generation of the Romero legacy as a loving prelude to the work my father put in back in the 60’s. This film will be my love letter to my father, an homage to his legendary accomplishment and respectful nod to the fans who have dedicated their lives to his work, his creatures and the future of independent cinema.
I’m truly hoping that the next update will have more details, but I figure this is a great way to re-engage with you all as honestly and openly as I possibly can.
Please continue your patience and support for ORIGINS and know that while I may have been silent on this public forum for quite some time, I have not been silent in conference rooms.
You all want the down and dirty of how and when this thing gets made?
You got it.
Stay tuned for regular updates from this point forward and remember what my dad, Craven, Hooper, Argento and so many others of their time taught us…

One last thing… if you want more updates or teasers of what’s going on, my social links are listed here. I engage there more than I do here so while I will provide regular updates every month or every other month here, my social platforms tend to pop stuff more regularly.

Today, the project has taken on it’s original form. I have returned it to the purest of intentions and am moving forward at full speed to get it produced and released as fast as possible. It’s still not easy and there are more ups and downs than almost ever before as I have become set in stone about a few things regarding this film. I have returned to the policy that nobody speaks for Cameron except Cameron when it comes to this film and I’ve managed to get rid of all the bullshit surrounding this project and return it to the beautiful and dangerous project I’ve always wanted it to become.
Robert Kurtzman is attached to so some next level shit with the FX, I’m speaking with my long time friend, Shane Hurlbut, A.S.C. about shooting the film and praying to God every day that he can find the time in his insane schedule to come aboard if I get it funded as quickly as I'm hoping.
I’ve spent a very long time working with long time colleagues to develop a new finance model for ORIGINS and, since July 16th, I’ve been embracing the fact that I am now, the last George Romero alive to pick up a camera, dealing with the weight of that statement and taking the steps necessary to ensure that everything I do moving forward, especially ORIGINS, will be not in the shadow of my father, but in loving memory to the man who was once called the most dangerous filmmaker alive… the man who died with the title of the “godfather of the modern zombie…” the man who thousands credit with influencing their lives, careers, etc… the man who, in my and many others’ opinions was one of the most important filmmakers who ever lived… the man I called Dad.

To Recap the “Silent Period:”
Shortly after the campaign ended, I inked a deal with a major production company and had agreed for a legendary producer to join the project in the capacity of producer. I won’t name names in this update because I don’t want anyone to think the worst. There is no bad blood on this end of things and I maintain a world of respect for the producer and his company. Anyway… this was epic and I was working toward a large announcement about this on the IGG platform. I even attended Sundance in ’15 to kick off some great press about this partnership and was more excited than I had ever been as an independent filmmaker. The deal was a six month deal during which time, everything was to be buttoned up. As time went on, however, it became clear that the company was embroiled in other projects that ranked higher on their priority list than ORIGINS and as the six month period drew to a close, it was clear we weren’t going to be doing the film with them. My six month agreement put some handcuffs on me with regard to limiting what I could do and what I could say. At the time I figured “no big deal.” By the time the six month agreement ended, I was pretty far behind the eight ball as I was unable to pursue talks I had started prior to signing the deal in terms of cast, distribution, etc… So there I was… six months in… detonated deal… square one… here I come.
It took about another six months to “bounce back” from the place I and the project were left and about a year after we signed the deal, I was back to discussing the project as a viable piece with the vim and vigor it once had. There was a lot of interest but suffice to say their vision for the film and my own never seemed to work out. Through that, I've also had to work to "keep the lights on" as we all do on a daily basis.

Origins Supporters,
I'd like to begin this update with another thank you to all of you who supported my ORIGINS project so long ago and showed that support by contributing to this campaign. I’d also like to, once again, apologize for the lack of communication on my part after the campaign ended. While there are a hundred excuses, I believe it is probably better to simply take accountability for the fact that I fell short here and tell you all that I truly am sorry for any inconvenience or bad blood my extended silence may have caused. I assure you all that it was never my intention to be silent. There just wasn’t anything good to say and so I figured no news is good news. Before long, a LOT of time had passed and I posted an update a couple months ago to try to alleviate some concerns that had been voiced in the comments below. I realize that even that update may have been too little, too late as well. That said, I will make it a much more regular occurrence to update you all about this project, even in the event that there may not be much to say at times. The reality is that getting any film off the ground, let alone a film such as this one, can generally be both a truly rewarding as well as a truly horrific experience. I also realize that you all didn’t support this project for nothing but the highlight reel, so please know that I am committed to taking you all on this journey from this point forward, including the highs and the lows.
