Origins: The Next Generation Romero Zombie Film

And while we met our goal for the IndieGoGo campaign, what  most don't realize is that we didn't come close to our original goal for this campaign.  In fact, we lowered the goal from $250k to $30k just to make sure we closed the campaign with success and enough money to fulfill the stuff y'all purchased in support of the project.  

Now... if we had reached our original goal of $250k, we would have had enough to cast some actors and pull the trigger quick, fast and in a hurry.  However, since we only raised what we raised, the funds barely spread far enough to fulfill orders.  

What IGG doesn't make very clear to anyone is that the fulfillment comes out of money raised during a campaign.  

This means that after we hired our fulfillment company and paid for all the stuff we had to pay for to make this campaign happen, we had barely enough money to pay for the campaign itself.  

So to speak to some of your speculation and comments, I can assure you and would testify in a court of law that none of this money went to selfish endeavors... none of this money went to pay for any trips of mine or anyone else's like I saw one person comment and none of this money went for absolutely anything other than the project itself.  

ORIGINS has been a very tough one to get off the ground.  I wouldn't have thought it was going to be, but alas... it has been harder than almost any other project of mine to birth.  

So for those of you awaiting DVDs or fulfillment of items that are to be fulfilled after the film is produced, please know that it takes a LOT more than $30k to make any movie, including ORIGINS.  Please also know that this film is finally getting closer to getting made and that everyone who deserved a credit, a DVD or anything else that is to be fulfilled upon production or completion of the films will get their perks.  I absolutely promise this.  

Until then, I truly appreciate all of you, your support and love and I ask only for your patience before assuming the worst about this project, this campaign, me or anyone else working tirelessly to make sure this film happens.

Hi everyone!  

It has come to my attention that many of you have become a bit upset about some things regarding this campaign and, based on what I've seen in the comments, I'd say that these rumors are somewhat true.  

Because of this, I want to take some time and personally post an update because apparently if I don't do it myself, nobody else is going to and that's just gonna keep leaving y'all in the dark with more questions than answers.  

First, and most importantly, ORIGINS is happening.  All of your support for this campaign truly warmed my heart and as I've got a reputation of not giving up or letting people down I am not giving up on this film at all.  I realize it's been a hot minute since this campaign ended and I realize that it may seem like the project has gone away.  This is NOT the case.  

We entered into an agreement with a reputable company to produce this film around the time this campaign was live.  A series of events that I won't go into led to me allowing the agreement to expire and taking some time to regroup to make sure this project gets done the right way.  

ORIGINS is probably the most important project I've ever put together for a couple reasons.  

1.  It is my personal love letter to my father and his work and as a result of this, I will NOT make this film any way other than the right way.  I won't turn it into something it shouldn't be and I won't make some piece of bullshit just because someone wants to make money or capitalize on my father's good name or my own.  

2. It's my personal thank you to everyone who has become a fan of my father's work.  I've been asked hundreds of times over the course of my life and career why I won't make a zombie movie, but I've only been asked once "What zombie movie would you make."  The answer was instant and without hesitation... "ORIGINS."  It is designed and written to speak to everything in my father's original film that all of us fans have fallen in love over the decades.  It's truly a fan film for fellow fans of my dad.  I won't compromise my vision for this film and I won't make some piece of shit.  It's simply too important to me.  

That said... these things take time.  A lot of time.

ORIGINS: THE NEXT GENERATION ROMERO ZOMBIE FILM HAS BEEN FUNDED!

Because of YOU Cameron Romero is able to start the process of getting Origins off the ground!

We have as a result of this project:

-Attached a Director of Photography!
-Attached Legendary make-up artist Robert Kurtzman to the project!
-Brought on Cold Steel as a Partner in the film!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to look over this amazing project, we'll likely be using Backer-Kit to help sort out everyone's gear and get addresses for your perks. So expect that in the next couple of weeks.

Hey Contributors!

Due to overwhelming demand and the huge amount of support you've all been showing  us in the last few days. We've decided to extend our Campaign into December 4th!

We'd like to remind folks that this is a PRE-PRODUCTION CAMNPAIGN, and we're using all of the money we raise to get interest and start the process of making this film a reality. There is no real goal, we just want to get this movie started!

That being said, we need YOUR HELP to make that happen!

Origins has Awakened!

In this final week of the campaign for Origins, we wanted to let people know what IMPACT that the campaign has had so far:

MAKE UP:
As a result of this campaign, Robert Kurtzman, the famous Make-Up Artist has decided to join our team to make Origins happen!

DEPARTMENT LEADS:
Because of YOUR support, we have a world famous ASC cinematographer to hire onto the team to make the film!

DISTRIBUTION:
We're currently in negotiations with several foreign and domestic distributors, because they know that there are people out there who want to see this!

PARTNERSHIPS:
Cold Steel, an amazing purveyor of knives and custom cutlery is now officially a partner on the film and will be providing all the weapons for the shoot.

FINAL WEEK:

We want to let people know there is STILL TIME to get involved in Origins. We have some new Perks (Like a Blu-Ray of the Film, and Pachang machetes) that are now available.
